NY Times Includes 2007 Pinot Blanc in "Complex American Wine at a Price Easy to Pay"
May 20, 2009
In a recent article by Eric Asimov, chief wine critic of The New York Times, the Lieb Cellars 2007 Pinot Blanc was given a nod as an inexpensive, interesting, quality wine from the United States. Mr. Asimov writes "I got a bottle of superb 2007 pinot blanc, made by Lieb Family Cellars on the North Fork of Long Island. What a delicious wine! It was dry and creamy with a captivating texture and a mere 12.5 percent alcohol." Our Pinot Blanc was the only Long Island wine included on the list and was in good company along with famed producers such as Roederer Estate in the Anderson Valley of California, and Oregon wineries Ponzi and King Estate. LIEB PLAYS BALL AT CITI FIELD
OPENING DAY, APRIL 13, 2009
Lieb Cellars becomes the first Long Island wine poured at the new home of the NY Mets, Citi Field. Danny Meyer's Union Square Hospitality Group, along with Aramark, have teamed up to provide the ultimate food experience for fans at the ballpark. Lieb Cellars' Pinot Blanc, a favorite at Meyer's Blue Smoke restaurant in NYC, was chosen as the perfect compliment to the menu at Citi Field. Lieb's Pinot Blanc will be poured at the Delta Sky360 Club, the premium seating area for 1600 guests, on the field level directly behind home plate. Lieb is very proud of this accomplishment and hopes it leads to further exposure to the great wines of Long Island.

Our first Syrah wine is produced in honor of Syrah the dog

As visitors to Lieb Cellars may know, we lost our canine friend and mascot, Syrah, to kidney disease last May.  Syrah was a celebrity around town and at the winery, greeting tasting room visitors, riding shotgun in the delivery van, and keeping deer out of the vineyard.  We pay special tribute to our friend with a very special wine produced to help fight kidney disease in dogs and cats.  20% of the proceeds of this wine will be donated to The Animal Medical Center in New York City.  We invite you to learn more about the kideny research and therapies being done at the AMC and to read a special tribute to Syrah on their website: http://www.amcny.org/supportamc/syrah.aspx

2006 Reserve Pinot Blanc takes Gold in Grand Harvest Awards
Just in time to be featured in our upcoming April 'Oysterfest' the 2006 Pinot Blanc has received the highest honor, a Gold Medal, at the 2008 Grand Harvest Awards. The Grand Harvest Awards is truly a one of a kind competition. It is the only wine-judging event in North America that is based on terroir - wine varietals are compared and judged against those from same vineyards, same regions. Lieb Cellars is among only three Long Island wineries to medal in this competition, and is the only one to receive gold. In fact, only two other wineries in the state of NY share that honor. Look to taste the 2006 Pinot Blanc every Saturday in April during Oysterfest.
