What do you do at Lieb Cellars?
I’m the official cheese taster at Oregon Road. Wait, no, that isn’t it. Oh! I work in the tasting room on weekends, and a couple days a week I get to run around taking pretty pictures for our social media and blog.
How did you come to work in the wine industry?
I’ve lived out on the North Fork my entire life, so when looking for a summer job, it seemed natural to choose one of the many wineries near my house. Fast forward ten years (what?) and I’ve been in the wine and food business ever since. That random decision ended up beginning my career.
What’s your favorite part about working at LC?
Without a doubt, the team. I’m so lucky to have called some of these weirdos my friends before working at Lieb, but now I can call the rest of the weirdos my friends too! But in all seriousness, it’s a tight knit, hard working crew and they make me want to be better at my job when I see how awesome they are at theirs.
What are your favorite Lieb and non-Lieb wines?
I’m really into the new release Sparkling Pinot Blanc (previously named Blanc de Blancs), but I have a feeling the Sparkling Rosé being released next month will usurp the position of my favorite soon enough. If I’m not drinking Lieb (which honestly isn’t often), it’s usually something else with bubbles or a big Spanish red.
If someone gave you $100 and the day off, how would you spend it?
I would grab my friends and a few bottles of wine (all free so far), and then grab $100 worth of cheese, charcuterie, olives, and bread and head to the beach. I can’t think of a better way to spend money or a day.
