Name and Position: Derek Lustig, Tasting Room Associate
What do you do at Lieb Cellars?
Currently: crafting a Pandora station filled with break-beat, eclectic, urban Jazz. Norally: making guests smile.
How did you come to work in the wine industry?
I have to thank Soraya from Roanoke for the initial opportunity. She hired me on a whim so I could begin my journey in the wine world.
What’s your favorite part about working at LC?
The people. We have a great team here, so work rarely feels like work. I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
What are your favorite Lieb and non-Lieb wines?
Currently at Lieb, it has to be the Sauv Blanc. I love anything with a bright acidity and this really does it for me. Off-hand, I enjoy bigger-body reds, but I don’t discriminate.
If someone gave you $100 and the day off, how would you spend it?
I’d take the train to Manhattan, eat a bowl of ramen at Hide-Chan Ramen on E 52nd St and grab a pint somewhere with a view.
